This year the city of Scranton and the Marchant Memorial Library will be coordinating a Halloween “Trunk-or-Treat” event on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 7 pm in lieu of the traditional door-to-door Beggar’s Night.
Trunk-or-treating is a popular Halloween event where citizens and businesses gather together in one location to make trick-or-treating safer and easier for families and those wishing to pass out candy.
Residents can decorate the trunk of their car, bring lawn chairs to sit outside, or sit inside at the library to pass out candy. This is a great chance for the community to get together, socialize, and get to see all the kids in their costumes!
The city will be closing off Main Street on the block in front of the library (from Peoples Bank to the Telephone Company) at 4:30 on Oct. 30 to prepare for this event. Businesses and individuals who would like to decorate the trunk of their car, bed of their truck, or around their parking space for handing out candy need to be parked on Main St before 4:30.
Space is limited on Main Street in this block, so please sign up at the library to reserve a space. Persons who want more information can call Wendy Johnson at the library or call 712-652-3453 during library hours.
